Question: Any tips on an alaska vacation?

We are interested in either a cruise or land package, maybe both. I hear it's beautiful up there, but need more specific direction on things to see and do.

It is best to go on a cruise for your first time in Alaska to experience it. Alaskan ports are very busy in the summer. If you go on the big cruisers with thousands of passengers, be ready for lines when the ship anchors off a port. Check out 'Terry Breen's Cruiser Friendly sight. She is a great lecturer on board an upscale cruise ship plying the Americas. She has listed the top things to do or see in Alaska. The train ride in Skagway may bore you though.
