Im writing a book about children and their dogs who have been stranded by their parents and they have to go find help. So like is northern, western, southern, eastern less populated and a specific part would help a lot too.

The answer is: most of the state. if you're not around a town or city, you're pretty much all alone. something like 99% of the state has less than 1 person per square mile. en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ File:Alaska_population_map.png in general, though, you want "the interior " since most cities/ towns/ population centers are on the coasts, islands, or rivers: en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ Alaska_Interior specifically, "the bush " en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ Bush_Alaska

Hmmm. This is a strangely worded question. Most of Alaska is very rural. About 600,000 people total. Half the state lives in Anchorage. About 75,000 in Fairbanks. Close to that in the Mat-Su valley. About 32,000 in Juneau (the capitol). The rest of the state is nearly void of population. For the means of your story, I would say central AK. The 'least populated' and 'pretty big' part of your question is throwing me off.
