Taking a trip to alaska this summer?

Question: Taking a trip to alaska this summer?

(Posted by: melissaaaaaa on 2010-03-08 15:12:03)

I live in Southern California. My mom is afraid of planes so we might be driving. Probably going to check out Anchorage most of the time because I might be moving there. What should I expect? What kind of clothing should I bring? Any tips?? Thanks much :D How much money should I take? What are some of the MUST SEE stuff?

We're going to Alaska also. That's a long drive. We're flying to Fairbanks and Denali for a few days and then catching a south bound cruise with Princess. Dress in layers - expect all kinds of weather including rain. Take your passports with you in case you decide to go into Canada. Take your camera! Other than than, I'd need specific questions.

Alaska is beautiful in the summer! It will be fairly warm, up to the 70s, but may get colder, into the 40s. I would bring long pants, a mid weight (fleece) jacket, as well as t-shirts and a couple pairs of shorts. Layers are great, because the weather can be unpredictable. No need for hats, gloves, etc. It will stay light outside almost all night, which can be hard to adjust to but is really neat.
