Question: Going to atlanta, georgia for the first time. good bars?

I turn 21 recently and I live in Tennessee. I want to go to a new city for my 21st birthday and picked Atlanta because I've never even been to Georgia. The only problem is that I have no idea where anything is in Atlanta. Where's the "bar strip " where there are good places to drink. Where is "downtown Atlanta "? Any help you can give me would be awesome :D

I lived in Atlanta for 11 years, and my FAVORITE bar there is called The Opera, it's more of a dance club/ bar but it's great, lots of good pretty people there. Sky Bar is another good one, but you HAVE to check out The Opera! You'll love it. Downtown is off of I-75/ I-85, it can sometimes be scary at night. There is a nicer part of "Atlanta " just north called Buckhead, I don't know of any bars there but it's a really nice area.

What's your type of bar? I've been to two areas which I thought were cool but may not be your thing - 1) East Village and 2) Little Five Points. They're both a quick trip from downtown... You could always browse around on Google Maps... just go to Atlanta and type 'bar' and see what pops up. You'll get some user reviews/ websites/ etc. and an idea of the areas where there are lots of bars.

Go to either Little Five Points or East Atlanta Village if you want to party all night. Maybe do some research and if you are into live music pick out a club or concert venue that is presenting the type of music you enjoy and party there. Check online for Creative Loafing or Access Atlanta for nightlife guides.
